Daniel Shares How He Bulked Up For ‘Immortals’

Check out Daniel Sharman in this feature from VMAN‘s The Decades issue.

Here’s what the 25-year-old Immortals actor had to share with the mag, which named him one of the Breakout Stars of Winter:

On transitioning from stage acting to the big screen: “I found acting on film very difficult. I found it really kinda odd and unnatural. Then I became obsessed with trying to get it right. I am hugely competitive.”

On his Immortals audition: “I had just finished a stage show in London playing a herion addict. I’d lost a lot of weight and when I arrived in L.A. for a few meetings my managers were like ‘What the f—’s happened to you?’ [Director] Tarsem Singh said, ‘You are probably too skinny for it but I love what you did with it, come back and do it again.’ For a week I ate protein bars, stuffed my face, went to the gym all seven days and I even took weights with me to the next audition and pumped up right before I went in. They showed me the tape and it’s a remarkable change. It’s amazing what 700 protein bars can do in a week, I’ll tell you that.”

Immortals Star Has To Give Up Golden Ticket

Immortals star Daniel Sharman has had to choose between movie stardom and his beloved Arsenal Football Club in London – because he’s too busy to get to games.

The young actor’s career has really taken off since he appeared alongside Mickey Rourke and Freida Pinto in last year’s (11) 3D blockbuster – but it has come at a cost.

He tells Nylon magazine, “I waited seven years to be an Arsenal season ticket holder and this year it finally came through, and it’s the one year I’ve spent about five minutes in London.

“I get up at seven in the morning in Los Angeles to watch the matches at the Village Idiot pub (on Melrose Avenue). It’s usually just me with a pint.”
